I have a HUGE sugar addiction and with the help of my holistic practitioner I am doing a 2 week cleanse (no, with the cayenne and craziness).
Im just 12 hours into this and my head is pounding and im so tired. I’ve gone cold turkey before but I can’t remember how long this lasts. 3 days? A week? How long until im over the hump? |
I've done a few of those over the years and it's different every time. I've learned to up the protein and fats when detoxing to help with the headaches. Being hangry AND going thru the carb flu at the same time is just too much.
The last time I did this, it was four days. Before that, another time it was 10. |
For me, 1-3 days. It depends. It's worse if this is one of your first times. I like to go cold-turkey and others prefer tapering.
If I'm feeling awful because I really let things get away, I have high protein/high fat. Ex: rye/pumpernickel/whole grain bread + either gravlax, yogurt/creme fraiche+ fresh dill or a duck egg and spices + olive oil + garlic |
Drink some more water! Should help. You got this!! |
can't you call your "holistic practitioner"? lol |
Dropping sugar was hard but hang in there, will be so much better when not part of routine |
OP here.
Thanks all, I am SO glad to report I didn't have a headache at all today! BUT last nights headache was so terrible I could barely lift my head up. ![]() (and to snarky PP, I posted that I was doing this under the guidance of someone so everyone wouldn't pounce on me for doing a "cleanse" on my own) |
Are you in the DC area -- shift in weather could be affecting that headache, too. I'm susceptible to that, and if you are doing too much (no sugar! no caffiene! rain on the way!) my body can't cope and boom! headache. So take it easy on yourself. Pull out the advil or whatever painkiller is your fav. |
