Can you help me evaluate this COVID exposure timeline?

Players: DC5 (age 5), DC7 (age 7), mom

Day 1-5 DC5 has a bad cold and tests negative on multiple rapid tests
Day 6 morning - DC7 coughed slightly and tested positive on a rapid test
Day 6 afternoon - entire family except DC7 tests negative on a PCR test (DC7 positive)
Day 12 - DC7 tests negative on a rapid test
Day 16 - mom gets bad sore throat and tests negative on multiple rapids and PCR tests
Day 20 - mom has a bad cold, perhaps what DC5 had?

So I caught DC5’s cold but not DC7’s COVID? I was out a couple days caring for DC7 so my coworkers know I was exposed to COVID. It looks bad now for me to be coughing away (masked, of course) just a week later. I’ve taken rapid tests on 8 different days and 3 PCR tests. Is there any chance this is COVID?

This is the most exactly what happened in our house! Cold/cough kid and I never got Covid. PCR validated.

Honest question, does it matter? If you have symptoms, treat it, if not, don’t.

My office mate is immunocompromised. A cold won’t kill him but COVID might.

You are testing negative multiple times. You have symptoms of an illness. You should either get to stay home regardless of the illness because sick people shouldnt go to work but its been 4+ days since symptoms now- what could you possibly still be contagious with? If you immunocompromised coworker is concerned they should stay home.

It cannot continue that people freak about COVID for every cold and sniffle with multiple negative tests.

You posted a 20-day timeline. The cat is out of the bag one way or the other. It truly doesn't matter.

You certainly didnt catch a cold from DC5 and take 15 days to show symptoms. Sounds like you just caught a different cold than everyone else.

That's not true. Colds are not harmless for the immunocompromised.
