13 COVID cases in one day at Janney??

Anonymous
Anyone has details on this? Across how many classes are they?

That's a lot of an illness that causes long-term conditions in one in five adults under 65, only reduced by vaccinations by 15%. A lot of an illness that will likely spread from there to a lot of parents. Good luck, folks, I'm so sorry to see this.

What are you talking about - would love to see your citations on one in five adults suffering from long term conditions.

Covid has been everywhere for two months now at Janney and every where else. But since almost everyone at Janney is vaccinated no one is getting seriously ill so I don't know what you are going on about.

Summary
What is already known about this topic?

As more persons are exposed to and infected by SARS-CoV-2, reports of patients who experience persistent symptoms or organ dysfunction after acute COVID-19 and develop post-COVID conditions have increased.

What is added by this report?

COVID-19 survivors have twice the risk for developing pulmonary embolism or respiratory conditions; one in five COVID-19 survivors aged 18–64 years and one in four survivors aged ≥65 years experienced at least one incident condition that might be attributable to previous COVID-19.

Sigh.

Covid has been everywhere the last two months. Every public school in DC has had lots of positives, in part because DC is doing a lot of testing.

But despite the misleading infographic shared above it really is not a big deal if you are vaccinated and very few children get sick from covid.

We need to unclench about this stuff.

LOL at the lots of testing, LOL at calling the CDC MMWR misleading, and LOL at calling COVID 'really no big deal if you're vaccinated'. None of those statements are even remotely true. Must be a lot of work to remain so detached from tough realities.

OP again, I hadn't realized Jackson-Reed High School also reports 13 cases today. In both cases the DCReopenstrong.com website split the double-digit case load into two notifications.

Most DMV independent schools were awash as well the past month (most got out this past week or will soon). Most went back to masking, and some - the smart/resourced ones - were still doing weekly community wide tests and instant tests. If you don't do any of that, many folks will contact it before the year is out

Both that study and infographic are garbage.

NP. MMWR has been putting out almost nothing but studies that were clearly designed to justify preferred policy outcomes over the past two years.

So what?

1. The CDC says 85 percent of kids in DC have already had coronavirus.

2. Everyone is going to get it no matter what. If you think you’re going to avoid, I have a big beautiful bridge to sell you.

The tough reality is that nearly everyone will get Covid repeatedly no matter what happens at Janney.

Or at play dates. Or sleepovers. Or at the pool. Or at Soccer practice.

Those are platitudes that ignore that it's not one and done. The number of times you are infected with covid will make a difference in your long-term health.

NP. You have no evidence for that. None.
