| Did everyone receive the email about proof of immunization? Does this mean that even existing students have to submit proof of immunization? My kids already had their annual exams and getting forms costs $20. Does this mean I have to go get updated forms and submit them to the school? |
| What grade is your child going into? There are additional immunizations required for 7th and 12th graders. |
1st and 3rd |
| You only need to provide updated forms if your child needs an immunization that isn't already on record. As pp mentioned, that's typically DTaP and HPV by 7th grade (you can opt out of the HPV) and the two dose MenACWY series (the first before 7th grade, the second before 12th grade). All of the rest should already be on file since you needed them to enroll your DC initially. |
| Won’t your pediatrician just provide a print out? I can download my kids’ records from the patient portal. |
Same. Op - calm down. It's the standard requirements that have been in place for years and for those going into 7th grade - 12th it's Meningitis and HPV , but those were required last year too so, again, nothing newsworthy. Click on the link next time. |
| we not not losing do it HIPPA |
HIPPA |
| OP, it’s just a reminder for those who have not submitted their immunization records yet — this notice is sent now s they will have time to collect the records before school starts. As PPs mentioned, 7th and 12th graders have certain requirements. |
| We ask for the print out every year because some camps and activities require that information as well. It is just part of what we do at the annual exam. That said, our shot records are available on his electric chart, which we have access to. |
You should research HIPPA and why it doesn’t apply here. |
Just say you’re exempt from them |
They are not officially required. You opt-out we did |

I found the email confusing too since they've never sent it before and my kids are in 4th and 5th grade. I wasn't sure if I was getting it specifically because of the ages of my kids or if it went to everyone or what. They really need to clarify WHO the email is directed at when they send general messages like this.
From what I can gather, there's a NEW vaccine now required for incoming Kindergarteners. There's also a requirement to update records when going into 7th and 12th grade. So, the message was basically intended for those people. |
