Just an fyi.. new speed cameras are going in today on Norbeck Rd just west of Muncaster Mill Rd. Both directions. Speed limit is 35mph on that stretch now.

Ffs

35 miles an hour is ridiculous on that stretch of the road. And then it climbs to 50 just down the road! I knew they were going to try and make money off that stretch.

Ah yes, now the speed limit switch makes sense. Thanks for the heads up, hope I remember that on the few times I drive that stretch of road.

Totally agree. It’s a 4 lane road.

You agree on the speed limit or the speed cameras?

Neighbors just want to make it safe to run over pedestrians.

I remember Georgia Avenue in Olney was like that - went from 50 down to 30 or 35 pretty abruptly, without a lot of visible speed limit signs; people got dinged all of the time because it was ls so easy to go with the speed of traffic and everyone was starting at 50 mph just a little bit up the road.

Most of the $$$ goes to a private company who supplies the cameras

I’m the OP. So far I’ve avoided a ticket, had a couple of close calls though at 530am when I’m driving that way with no traffic in front of me.

I just drive 33-34mph everywhere I go now. Have for years.

No more speeding tickets in the mail for me.

when it's started 35mph on Norbeck Rd? I checked my GPS and said 45mph and I saw back of camera and flashed on my car. I looked it's 45mph. I drove 48-50mph. I don't recall about speed. I will get ticket within two weeks. My husband and I did drive on that Norbeck Rd last November 1, 2022, at nighttime around 9pm or so. There wasn't flashed at my car until today I drove it this early morning about 8am. I saw camera flashed at my car. It's really ridiculous. I drove that road for years until I moved to Columbia, MD and rarely use that road until November 1st and today November 10th. I have to go to 50 Maryland Ave. Rockville, MD for open estate my father (passed away) last summer.

Bingo.

This is the correct answer. 35 mph anywhere that isn’t a highway.

Don’t like it? Go around me.

my Garmin GPS says 45 as well. It hasn’t been updated though. Using your gps on court won’t hold up as an excuse fyi…. There are new signs saying 35mph.
