Let’s make DC and it’s schools gun free. Ideas?

What we as citizens and tax payers must do to make our city save for our kids other than Protest and rallying?

Since you are in the education space, I would start with using proper grammar in your messaging. (Its not it’s).

Sadly DC isn't.

Instead of being condescending and shaming each other on trivial matters, be helpful and tolerant for starters.

Follow the illegal guns and start there. I believe I heard once that many come from
Virginia, no idea if that’s accurate. But most if not all of the shootings are probably guns not obtained legally. I assume while there’s a way to sell guns privately or steal them this will always be an issue.

Also good chance this thread ends up in politics.

Can DC guarantee that criminals won't own guns? Or are you just taking them from registered gun owners? I just want to be clear.

Crime control is part of gun control.

If grown ups are kinder, kids will learn that and grow up to be better people. All school shooters are former kids who were judged, bullied and slighted. That’s right there is one step towards safety. NO government can reform like parents can by joining hands.

I *was* being helpful, dumbass. If you're going to be talking about schools, proper grammar in your messaging is kind of a prerequisite for legitimacy.

Yup. After the Heller decision, I can't see any substantial gun control measures surviving a court challenge.

Only people with proper grammar have a right to worry about safety of their children and neighborhoods? What about people with poor manner? Shouldn’t they refrain from posting on education forums?

Clearly helpful.

Washingtonian here. I’ve always been ok with security guards, metal detectors and door screenings. I say we add them to all schools.

We had it rough at times in the 90s but made it thru.
