Colonoscopy prep/shrinkflation

I'll talk to the nurse tomorrow, but anyone in the know? My colonoscopy prep is miralax in gatorade. The instructions call for 32 oz of gatorade but the bottles are only 28 oz now. I bought enough gatorade to total up to what I need, but has anyone been through this before? I can mix things up in separate bottles with the right amount, but I really don't want to make this any more complicated than it needs to be.

Yes, I actually can add 4 Oz of Gatorade. I'd rather do it in the Gatorade bottle, but I realized after posting I can use a larger water bottle

Yes! I noticed the same when I did my prep for my colonoscopy two weeks ago. I added another cup of Gatorade to a pitcher but would have preferred to add the Miralax to the Gatorade bottle.

Good luck! I found the prep pretty darn miserable.

You’ll want a little hot water anyway to melt the miralax so it’s not gritty. Stir in hot water for about 5 minutes before adding cold Gatorade.

OK. Measure out 4oz of water in a cup and put one capful of Miralax into the water. Put the rest (presuming a 119g bottle) into the gatorade bottle.

You could get fancier with measurements, but it's going into and out of the same place anyway.

Hey friend! The nurse is going to give me a call today as is standard day before to go over the written instructions and see if i have any questions before my first colonoscopy. I do, and as it turns out this great group of folks came up with better ideas than i did alone. The hot water hadn't occurred to me!

The 4oz is not going to make a difference.

Even a 32 oz bottle of gatorade will overflow when you add the miralax. BTDT We have always used half gallon pitchers (like for lemonade or iced tea).

def drink more water than just the prep instructions. I drank only the gatorade and while I was very “clean”, I was also very dehydrated and as a result it was not easy for the team to find a vein to start the IV.
