Housekeeper 2X/week - what do they do?

Anonymous
I could probably swing a housekeeper 2x/week, but trying to figure out if that makes sense. If you have a housekeeper 2+/week, what do they do? Also please share how many are in your family when you do so.

TIA.

My mom has someone 3x/week. She cleans, does laundry and does cooking that she puts in containers for him. Before the cooking, she did 2x/week.

I only do 1x/week because I do our laundry and keep the apartment clean in between. But I also can't really afford 2x at NYC rates.

4 family members plus a dog. We have a cleaning lady come twice a week (I think she brings two people with her), on Mondays and Thursdays. They change the sheets and do a load of sheets and towels, scrub the bathrooms and kitchen, clean all mirrors, dust and vacuum/mop, empty trash, sweep the balcony, and each time do one "big" project. This past Monday they pulled out the refrigerator and stove and cleaned behind them. Last Thursday they washed all the windows.

Pre-Covid we threw a lot of parties and had guests often so this got our house ready for weekends and cleaned up after weekends. During Covid since we were all home it was still helpful to have someone cleaning. Now we aren't entertaining at the same level we used to pre-pandemic, but things have picked up a bit.

They do what you ask - go through the entire place with them showing what you want done and how. Have you never had a housekeeper before?

My family is DH and me, plus 3 kids (later elementary and middle school) and our dog. Have a housekeeper who comes one day for deep cleaning, then two days for 3 hours each to do extra stuff....

Extra stuff includes:

-folding and putting away laundry
-cleaning up in the kitchen (always a mess)
-simple food prep
-helping with the dog
-tidying up the coat/shoe area
-tidying up living room/play area
-special projects like switching out the kids summer/winter clothes
-taking my kids to activities
-quick errands for me like making returns or doing easy grocery shopping
-taking out the trash

Sometimes I do not have enough stuff for her to do even for those three hours, but it's worth it to pay her for the times when I do. I resisted having the extra few hours for a while because I didn't think I really needed them, but I'm thankful to have them now.

She cleans and does laundry. 15 hours a week. There is always plenty of work. Family of four.

Fridays they do a full houseclean and some laundry. Tuesdays they clean the kitchen again, change and wash sheets and towels, sweep the porch and patio, and do whatever irregular things I need, like cleaning out the refrigerator, deep cleaning a particular room, or polishing silverware before the holidays.
