Is your private school kid going to beach week in ocean city?

I’m trying to get an idea of how common this is at local private schools. If your kids have gone how do the rentals work-I’m assuming a bunch of 17 and 18 year olds aren’t able to rent a house in their own (rental agreement wise not $ use though of course that’s also an issue.)

If your child wanted to go and you didn’t let them how did that go? Do any kids do non-beach week trips with friends? Thank you!

Some do, some don't (ours isn't by choice -- has a job). I don't think I've heard of anyone going to OC though.

I've heard of groups going to various beaches (not OC), and one group taking trains through Europe (mostly staying with various families of classmates who live abroad), another going on a 3-state bike trip, and another doing a cross country drive.

Ours wanted to go. It seems that lots of kids from his school go. We said no. He wasn't happy, but knew he wasn't going to change our mind. It seems like a really bad idea.

Ours went last year, but the home was owned by someone we knew and a family of one of the group members was a mile away.

All that I am aware of are going to the Outer Banks. My kid is not.

It's extremely common after senior year only (thank God), but most go to NC, not Ocean City.

Idiot parents who think this is a good idea rent the houses, making themselves liable for damages and who knows what else when houses that sleep 15- 20 are crammed with 25+ kids. In theory, a parent or a paid babysitter (e.g. a 25-year-old who wants to make some money to sit on the beach for a week) stays in the house all week.

Our DC are there yet but my brother offered a Wiropean trip instead. Pre- Covid though. Hoping we can do the same in a few years.

Most of the private schools around here go to the Outer Banks. Don’t know of any going to Ocean City

The senior class from SSSAS is going to an all inclusive resort in the Dominican Republic. There are lots of parent chaperones who are going. I already told my husband that when our boys graduate he will be the one of the two of us to go on the international beach week adventure. If we had girls, roles would be reversed.

NFW! They are not jeopardizing an Ivy admit for that.

Kid went to Outer Banks last year. Two Moms split the week. They had a great time!!

Seems completely unnecessary, in my opinion, but kid never asks for anything and is a good kid, so we treated.

NYC independent kids commandeer part of Atlantis for spring break. Beach week makes me envious.

Jeopardize it how? Getting drunk at a beach house they are staying in?

If Ivys cared about drunk and disorderly arrests they'd be kicking out a good percentage of their existing students.
