We found our first nanny through a friend (she's a relative of their nanny). She's moving back to her home country, so we're looking for someone new. So far I've tried Care.com, some neighborhood listservs, and the DCUM nanny boards, but haven't found the right match yet--if you have a great nanny (or ARE a great nanny!), how did you find them? |
Poach one, like everyone else does. |
Care.com but this was 11 years ago. She was fantastic so we got lucky. |
Agency. We attempted briefly on our own and the first two nannies we connected with rescheduled and ghosted the interviews so we quickly threw in the towel and outsourced the search. I guess it was a money investment instead of a time investment at that point, but no regrets. |
Care.com and just got unbelievably lucky. We tried an agency but didn’t find what we were looking for (college educated, teaching experience, mature, and creative). I looked on care.com and found her the day she put up her profile and was the first person to contact her. She’s truly the world’s greatest nanny! |

Work electronic bulletin board. I posted that we needed a nanny and someone I vaguely knew had a temp nanny they used while their regular nanny had gone to her home company who was great. And she was, in fact, great (we kept her for 7 years til we moved)!

DH’s boss was leaving the job and moving out of state. We inherited her nanny right in time for my maternity leave to end. |
