It seems like everyone has moved on with test to stay and allowing optional masking / updated asymptomatic guidance for K-12 school etc… but one area that has been neglected is policy surrounding DAYCARE facilities. Parents of the under 2 cohort are suffering.
Guidance still dictates that when an under 2 ( unable to mask) is exposed to a positive case ( regardless of whether or not the case was asymptomatic) there is a minimum 10 day quarantine. With multiple kids under 5 my fam is now on our 5th round of a 10 day quarantine this year. We have no more paid leave, our professional lives are shot after repeated unexpected bouts of unplanned leave. Parents of the under 2 group cannot sustain this much longer. CDC, VA, Arlington, and Fairfax County, please update daycare policy because it is unsustainable. |
| This is unlikely to happen while we are in the middle of a huge case spike. |
