CES-Compacted math?

Anonymous
My child just got offered a seat in the CES, which I understand is (among other things) based on MAP Reading scores. We were notified by her current school that she will be placed in compacted math next year. Do the CES offer compacted math as well? If my child is into math would she be better sereved staying at her current school?

Yes, most if not all CES students will be in compacted math both years.

Yes, at least some, CES programs (Cold Spring) offer compacted math. Ask the specific school your program is at.

However, it isn't necessarily true since these aren't connected. Math placement is based on factors unrelated to CES.

But if OP's kid has already been placed in compacted math for next year at the home school, then they're good. The same will happen at the CES.

This has been discussed before. Some schools have all the kids in compacted math. Ours does it this way (CCES).

All MCPS schools (CES and not) offer compacted math. I've heard rumors of small schools that don't offer it and transport kids to a different school, but no one can ever name the school.

In years past they have had 1-2 kids who were not in compacted, according to the principal who announced this, but no one really knows who they are because they switch for the math block.

McAuliffe does not offer any students compacted math- in person or through Zoom. (I am just responding to the PP above who said to name the school).
