Seriously? First they're doing nothing about protecting kids from covid and now there's a possibility of kids walking home during a tornado watch?
It's time to fire the sup folks. |
| WTF are you rambling about? |
| The OP is mocking the people going nuts about covid, right? |
Tornadoes kill covid, so there’s that. |
|
You can elect to keep your kids home. You can also monitor the weather and go pick them up if you decide that is best. You have options OP.
What would you mcps to say? We are monitoring the forecast? We will make adjustments to dismissal times if necessary? |
| I can just see it now. Evening news conference (arriving late, of course) of McKnight in her pink outfit making excuses why she didn't have a plan to handle tornados. She could have had the school switch to virtual today, but MCPS doesn't do virtual anymore. Now parents will nail bite all morning trying to figure out if they can even pick up their kids this aft or the schools will be in lockdown until the weather passes. |
| The National Weather Service announces tornado watches, not school districts. What do you expect them to say? |
| She didn't even make a cop-out announcement like "MCPS is monitoring the situation and parents should be prepared for an early dismissal". Otherwise some parents might be stuck in traffic as the weather rolls through, in which case MCPS will have a bunch of kids on their hands until who knows when. |
| It’s not a warning |
A tornado warning is issued when a tornado funnel is sighted or indicated by weather radar. You should take shelter immediately. So you're saying that until little Jimmy or Sally is videotaped flying up into a funnel cloud, nothing should be done? You're an idiot. |
|
OP sounds mental.
|
OP believes herself to be more clever than she is. |
What do you want done? |
They’re saying the highest chance of something happening is around lunchtime. Early dismissal is the opposite of what they should do. The last thing they need is to be in the middle of a dismissal when bad weather rolls through. The kids are probably safest in the school building. |
NP- I got an alert from MCPS at 634 am today regarding Tornado watch until 2 pm |
