| Has anyone taken a large van Uber to the airport - something large enough for six adults and one large suitcase each? Or would it be better to take two Ubers? |
|
Where do you live?
Maybe a Suburban can fit that...but if you are farther out in suburbs where it already takes longer to take an uber, then it might take longer to get one to fit all of you. I would do 2 cars. |
| Aren't their vans that specialize in airport runs? This is the time for that, not Uber! |
OP here. You are so right. We don't travel in such a large group often, so I didn't even think of that. Do you have a service you'd recommend? |
| Just get two Uber cars. |
It's been a while for me as well, but I recall.I went to the website for the airport I was flying from, and they have information on ground transportation services that work from that airport. Good luck! |

Get two Ubers.
We are a family of 6, and we struggle to fit into a minivan with our luggage. |
| No. As a family of 4 with luggage we barely fit in Uber XL. We rarely get a minivan. It’s usually a traverse or expedition with rear seats partially folded or there is no hope for the 4 suitcases. |
| It’s a crap shoot what you get for Uber XL. We are a family of 6. If you get a suburban or Escalade XL and one adult sits in the front and you fold down half of the 3rd row (the skinny half) it’ll work, but that’s assuming you get one w/ the 3 seater 2nd row and not captains seats. We usually order one xl and then if it’s not a huge one we order a 2nd Uber and stick 2 people and some bags in it. This works bc we live in the city so there are lots of Ubers around. I wouldn’t chance it further out |
It's funny how quickly we forget about life before uber and lyft. A lot of shuttle and taxi companies can be scheduled in advance and then send you live map tracking when the shuttle is on its way. |
Exactly. I've been shocked at the some of the cars that qualify for Uber XL. There have definitely been times where even the 4 of us would not have fit if my youngest was not 11 and could not squish into the narrow seat of the 3rd row (other half folded for luggage.) In my opinion, the Uber XL should be able to fit the luggage without folding the seat or it shouldn't qualify. I wish we could just say "send us a minivan" but it won't let you. |
+1 OP here. When I look at Uber XL online, it describes it as seating 6 people. But in the app, it says 5. Which is it, Uber? They really need a van service. |
I'm the PP. Probably depends whether the driver is allowing a front passenger or not due to Covid. I don't think I have ever been in an Uber XL that would have sat 6 people plus luggage, even a minivan. And even the minivan would have required one person to sit up front. We most often got an Enclave/Traverse or Expedition and had to sit 3 across the middle + 1 in the rear next to the folded seat with luggage on it. Annoying. |
| Two Ubers or a limo/van service. |
