I think I have anxious attachment style and it's making dating hard!

My mom left when I was 5 years old and I used to cry about it in school a lot; I think this has affected my romantic relationships. Whenever I don't receive a reply to my text or a phone call I assume the worst. I've been good about not completely freaking out and looking crazy in front of the guy, but I've spent many nights lying awake and it's absolute torture.

Has anyone overcome this? I'm a very loving person and really want to be secure in a relationship. The guy I'm with now is a really good guy; it's still new (a few months).

If you haven’t yet read “Motherless Daughters” by Hope Edelman, start there. After that, therapy. BTDT. It took me a long time to get past it. Truly grieving the death of my mother what’s what I needed to do to move past it and be secure in a romantic relationship.

Can you designate a time after work to call? I used to call my BF at 5:01 every day.
