Infertility Support and Discussion
I started Prometrium the day after ovulation. I'm curious whether the Prometrium will affect my temperature for charting purposes. I'm getting close to where I'm looking for 18 consecutive high temps, but I don't know if the rx would artificially keep my temp high. Last cycle I didn't start my period until after I stopped taking Prometrium. I meant to ask the dr when we last talked but forgot. Anyone else know the answer?
It depends on the person, but for most, yes, prometrium will keep your temp elevated, even though you may not be pregnant. You'll have to test, to be sure, before stopping the prometrium.
From everything I have read and, now, from personal experience, my advice is to just throw away the thermometer if you are on meds of any sort. Temps are not the norm if you are taking meds.
Poster 17:54 is correct...my RE just confirmed that with me this morning...if you are taking meds, don't bother temping.
Thanks for the responses - that's I thought, especially since P kept me from starting my period.
