Immersion middle school

Has there been any serious discussion of moving the immersion kids to a different middle school? If so, what options are there that are viable?

There are no current plans to move Immersion from Gunston. APS tried to move it Kenmore a few years ago and parents fought it. It's only 3 years. Your NA kid will be fine at Gunston.

I am a South Arlington parent with no qualms about Gunston or any other middle school in Arl but thanks!

Wouldn't it be easier to move the Montessori program somewhere else? Or just get rid of it since a lot of Montessori programs are just for elementary

Montessori doesn't free up many seats (less than 100). Immersion frees up 200+.

Forget the parents. Gunston principal won't let go of it. Wants to retain the higher scoring students for her stats.

yes but that is still moving in the right direction, right? don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good

I'm fine with moving them both; but particularly immersion. It's better for Gunston capacity and better for the immersion program - if you move it to Kenmore like APS wanted to. Montessori middle school is insignificant. They can go wherever.

As someone with a kid in immersion, I'd love the immersion middle school to be somewhere more convenient. A mid-Arlington site would be fantastic.

It's going to be a tough call to have my kid bus to Gunston when the local middle school is a short walk from our house.
