How does you Swim Club do on the Admin stuff?

Anonymous

Want to know how well your club does on communication, ensuring registration for returning members, putting kids in the same groups, timely communications, etc. I feel like our club is a constant sh*t show and I don't know if that is the norm. Perhaps it varies from location to location. But it is frustrating.

Hahahaha. If I don’t laugh, I will cry.

They are horrible at it.

Pretty well, defiantly better than the clubs our kids play for in other sports

I am extremely unhappy with the admin side of our swim club. Poor communication, poor grouping of kids. Coaches are unhappy. We don't even know if we will be able to swim at our pool next year. It's a hot mess.

We pay a premium at our club and I think that helps. They can add better admin functions. But on the whole most coaches are not great with communications.

I'm the "hot mess" PP, and we have considered switching to a more expensive club just to not have to deal with the admin nightmare. Which club are you with?

We are also at one of the large pricey clubs and our admin communication is really good, not only for things like registration for the new season but for upcoming meets and entry deadlines. Coach communication is hit or miss.

We are at a smaller northern Virginia pool and the organization is excellent. Much better than all other sports leagues we have participated in. They have already communicated the entire schedule for the summer to include picture day, team events, etc. Its really nice to have the next few months laid out. Meanwhile spring sports can’t even tell us the schedule for the next 2 weeks.

Please name your clubs if you're happy with them.

NCAP, you get what you pay for.

NCAP. It is pricey, but they run really well. As someone said you do get what you pay for. The worse tend to be county programs.

I think that most summer leagues do a nice job. Club swimming is a totally different animal where communication can be terrible. You are told there are deadlines but the club doesn't even do things on their own timelines. It can be frustrating to families. Registration will be open on X date - it does not open. They change swim groups or swim times but fail to warn families. They don't communicate moving kids between swim groups. They change the meet calendar without explanation.

RMSC - I've never had a problem with the truly administrative, which I see as the bolded. From time to time, there is a registration system glitch, but it always gets communicated and sorted out. System-wide communication is limited, but timely.

Everything else - meet entries, meet schedule, meet information, rare practice changes - is coach-dependent. I have heard about some coaches who are really lacking in timely communication, fortunately, I do not have experience with them and have been happy at RMSC for multiple kids for over 10 years.

Our pool is pretty good but we have a great board and a swim team rep who is a force to be reckoned with and has been doing the job for years. For our club most job are volunteers (exception being swim team coaches who have a ton on their plates with 150+ swimmers so don’t do much on the communication front). If you have issues with how things are run, start volunteering your time to make it better.
