He should be ashamed of himself and resign from DCCC job. Trying to take Jones’ district which is slightly more D than his. Pathetic. How about you defend your own seat?

| Isn’t he just running re-election for the district district he lives in? What’s the problem? |
|
His current district is NY-18. It looks that the newly drawn NY-17 will be a slightly easier race so he is taking it from Jones. His role with DCCC should be to protect incumbents and he is only looking out for himself.
The 18th District where Maloney SHOULD be running is made up of his voters. |

I'm normally sympathetic to this stuff, but the NY districts have been rashly and wrongly redrawn with no consideration of communities of interest, etc. I am not defending gerrymandering, just that the individual appointed to redraw the maps has shown zero sensitivity and understanding of the dynamics at play. The mere fact that SP Maloney and Jones are now in the same district explains everything.
NY State and City will lose some pols with a lot of seniority as well as up and coming leaders in the party. This whole thing is a shit show. |

OP here (now, not last comment). The intercept article
I posted is really very good. SPM is garbage. I am so angry. (NYC resident, AOC was and still is my Rep) |
That NY politics. |
| Not really seeing the issue. Primaries are there for a reason. T |
|
1. A seat does not belong to anyone.
2. Mondaire is running in the newly-created 10th district against De Blasio and probably a bunch of others. |
He is only running in 10 due to SPM pushing him out of his district |
|
Biaggi running in NY-17 to try to block SPM!
There is a NYT article but I can’t get the link https://bronx.news12.com/sen-biaggi-expected-to-challenge-rep-maloney-in-new-york-s-17th-district |
| No one is stealing. This is politics. |
