| I’m attending a concert at Strathmore—it’s intermission. There are so many people here in shorts. I don’t think I’m a pearl-clutcher but I think it’s terrible people can’t be bothered to throw on slacks and a golf shirt (I’m also seeing t-shirts). What say you, DCUM? |
| how can this possibly affect your enjoyment of the symphony? |
| Are the shorts distracting to your ears? |
| I think on a 100 degree day, I'd cut people some slack. |
| People have no respect anymore. Disgusting. |
| For not being a pearl clutcher you have a vice grip on those bad boys! |
| I think you must be 100 to be talking about “slacks” and “golf shirts.” |
|
I go to Strathmore a lot and it’s very casual.
Also, I saw people in jeans at a Kennedy matinee one Christmas. Tomorrow I will dress nicely for Strathmore but my son will be in shorts. He’s outgrown all his dressier clothes

| I agree with you, OP. I wish people dressed up more for special events like an evening at the symphony. Everything is casual now. |
+1. Slacks. And a golf shirt. Hahahahahahahahahaha |
| I’m 42 (so fairly old) but I agree with you OP. I wish people made more effort to look nice for special events. And I say this as someone who wears sweatpants any t shirts regularly. |
| PSA: Cover your fugly bare legs at the symphony. It's not the state fair. |
no ❤️ |
Nope. Avert your melodramatic eyes and focus on the people you paid to see. |

Agreed on OP with this. It shows a lack of respect in general. Call me a pearl clutches, I don't care. I wear shorts for the right occasions. Weekends, walks, gym, cookouts, outdoor rock concert etc. But if I am going to the symphony it will be a nice dress, dressy shoes, makeup, hair done etc.
Once we invited friends over to our house for evening dinner. Not a summer BBQ. It was an actual inside dinner. I was dressed in a casual but nice dress. DH was in a polo with jeans. Guy friend came over in old t shirt, cargo shorts and flip flops. His wife was dressed in cute capris and a cute top Guy looked like he had just mowed the lawn. It was weird. |
