Very depressed re the story in metro today

I don't even know how to write about this, it is just so upsetting and I know this is dangerous territory to write about because it is so awful but I can't get the story about the man from Silver Spring that killed his 3 children out of my mind (was on the front of the metro section today.) I personally did not know her but the mom is a colleague of my mothers and was also my little sisters pediatrician (my sister is 21.) Because of this, I know some other details that just make the whole story even worse (as if that was possible) and I just feel so incredibly depressed and sad for her. It really puts things into perspective when you think about the struggle this woman has endured with this man for the past few years and the incredible devastation that he has brought on her. He has done worse than ruin her life. Words can't even describe.

I also think I know him but can't place from where. But what bothers me the most - besides not being able to shake or even comprehend how she must feel and what horror she must be going through - but what really bothers me, is the question - how can a person hate his wife MORE than he loves his children?

There's a similar thread in the off-topic section. And yes, agree wholeheartedly. It is so heartbreaking, and sadly, this sort of thing happens not infrequently. Since you sort of know the mom, is there anything we can do to help her out? I mean I know nothing we do or say is going to remotely ease her pain, but would still like her to know that the entire community is pulling for her.
