Semi-regular "What Happen to J. Crew" post

J. Crew used to be my "basics with a fun twist" brand. They didn't try to be trendy, but made excellent basics with some on-trend colors or details here and there.

Today, I feel like it's an homage to the Spice Girls.

Scary would roll her eyes at the rest and be cool in this.

Sporty would be able to do her jumps and kicks

Posh would wear this (is it a slip or is it a dress?)

For the white outfit— Do they actually sell the tube top? Or is it being used to highlight the white jean?

I like the spice girls connection you made.

I always felt like j.crews thing has been:
Preppy
But a little more revealing, maybe
Not black and white, but navy and cream (mostly)
Looks great on skinny people
Looks better than other clothes on bigger people (which I now am)
Refined but casual

I love that orange halter but I don’t get why companies don’t do built in bras with tops that are not bra or strapless bra friendly. My saggy mom boobs need support.

Maybe bc they aren’t targeting saggy mom boobs. Jcrew seems to be to be targeting the 20-early 30somethings and has been for some time.

I'm small chested. If a shirt has a built in bra shelf thing, i don't buy it.

Baby would wear this with giant, platform sneakers and a furry, Kangol fisherman hat.

Ginger would wear this with a Union Jack bandana tied over her hair and matching Doc Martin boots.

Your posts are dumb. First, other than the first tube top, none of these really look like what the spice girls were wearing.

Second, 90s fashion is back. So yeah, it makes sense that some of j crew's stuff will channel those styles. I'm sure in the 90s, they in fact sold some straight leg jeans and silk slip dresses, just like the pictures below.

They 100% are selling tub tops.

Oh my gosh, Frances. It's a joke. That's when someone posts something that isn't serious. Because we're on a fashion forum on the internet. Chill.

Wait a second. These items actually look half-way decent. I like the white outfit! Maybe jcrew is stepping up its style game.

Ohhh it's funny that scarf tops are back. I loved those the first time around. After breastfeeding two kids, I'm going to have to take a pass this time!
