| I go to Aldi because it's close and has good prices. What's good about Lidl? They're opening a new one in Tyson's Corner. |
| Sort of like what’s the difference between Marshall’s and TJ Maxx. They do the same thing. Some people like one more than the other. |
| The letter A. |
| Lidl is usually a physically larger store with more inventory and options. They also bake some items in store. We like the soft pretzels, pretzel rolls, cookies, mini-focaccia loaves. They also have some self-checkouts and their app for discounts. No quarter needed for the cart. |
| Other than the quarter for the cart, not much. Each has a handful of things the other doesn't carry, but it's basically comparing giant and safeway. |
| Where in Tysons? The McLean one seems to be opening later than previously advertised. |
| Lidl has a fantastic bakery, Aldi has none. |
| Lidl is better. Surprisingly good bakery. Aldi is more barebones. |

By me, the Lidl was consistently better stocked than Aldi for everyday staples - half and half, meat, eggs. I liked the prices at Aldi, but I found I often had to make another trip to pick up what I really needed.
I don't think either has great quality nuts. Prefer Target, Trader Joe's or Whole Foods. |
|
Lidl has better bakery bread, but Aldi has better shelf-stable bread. Lidl dairy products are almost always short-dated compared to Aldi, too.
I will make a special trip to Lidl for baguettes or croissants, but otherwise I’m very content with Aldi. |
|
Lidl has more produce, seafood, and meat selection. It also has a bakery and flowers, which Aldi lacks.
|
| Lidl is better. And they don’t have the annoying coin-for-a-cart thing. |
This is actually quite funny. As is this (the Ballad of Lidl & Aldi): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cL7jyXCQ2Zc |
I heard that, so we went to check it out at the Lidl in Merrifield. The worst chocolate croissants I have ever had. |
