Reno road trash truck

Anonymous
I was driving down Reno road this morning and stopped at the light where it branches off to Tilden St. Suddenly a trash truck comes flying around the corner on the wrong side of the road, stopping right in front of the light to pick up the trash in front of a house. At this point they are directly in front of (facing!) the car in front of me. They start honking their horn, yelling, and throwing their hands up trying to get the car to move. The car in front of me ran the light to get away from them, and thankfully the light changed immediately after so I was able to safely proceed. Has anyone seen anything like this before? I could not get over the trash truck not only speeding around a corner while driving into oncoming traffic, but then honking and yelling and intimidating drivers into running a light at a fairly busy intersection. Thinking about calling 311 but doubt anything will be done.

There is a trash company with the word Tenleytown on the truck and every massively messed up traffic situation I've seen involves one of their trucks doing something bone-headed that other trash trucks do not do. They seem to go out of their way to block traffic and make streets impassible.

Yes, this is every week. And has been for years. They have a schedule to keep.

Hey. Look on the bright side, OP. At least the trash was being picked up this week!

I have noticed DC trash trucks frequently disregard traffic laws in super unsafe manners. Not sure if they have a quote or aren't given enough time to do their routes but someone is going to get killed someday. I saw one the other day turn right on red at an intersection right next to a school (that does not allow right turns on red) almost take out a parent who had just dropped off his kid. Later that day I saw what I assume was the same truck blow through two stop signs.

Trash trucks have a certain route that they must complete each day. They get paid the same amount, regardless if they complete the route in 3 hours or 12 hours. That's why you see them working crazy fast and wreckless driving - they want to go home early. In the summer, they want to finish their routes before the mid-day heat.

They took out one of my fence posts once.
