| It's one thing to criticize someone just for who their father is. We shouldn't do that. But the son worked for the father's firm, and therefore was right in the middle of the father's political operation. |
| Clearly an astro turf/trojan horse candidate. |

If true, this is an inevitable reaction to incompetent progressives. I used to live in Ward 1 and was very concerned when Nadeau was elected. She tanked constituent services, has a terrible voting record, and hasn't delivered meaningful improvements for her pie in the sky progressive ideals. Her leadership was a sharp decline from Jim Graham. I live in Ward 4 now and Janeese Lewis George is following in Nadeau's footsteps.
The scary part is how appealing almost any other candidate can be when you have terrible leadership in place. Nationally, there's been a backlash to incompetent progressive leadership and it's now veering very conservative. We need centrist leadership and I'm not seeing much of it on the DC Council these days. |
Yep. Just a lesson to never vote for a candidate who hasn’t been in DC for many years to form bonds with local groups. Parachuting into DC politics and running for district/state-wide office while knowing no one just leaves the door open for rightwing plants. |

That's... not even an attempt at reasonable moderation. Just gross. No thanks.
Makes me wonder how many of the boosters on here are just MAGA trolls who don't live anywhere near DC. |
Given the vast incompetence of the current City Council, a Trojan horse would be an improvement. At least he acknowledges the crime problems in the city. Honestly, at this point, progressive cities could use a dose of conservative lawmaking. Or anyone who wasn't corrupt, woke, or both |
You really trust a guy who tried to hide his Trump connections with any serious policy making? I bet all that money he has in his campaign is from dark money conservatives. |
Wow, that's some Chuck Thies level pivoting. Well done! I mean l, you're still a disgusting person propping up an awful candidate who isn't going to win, but nice skills! |
| I'm willing to bet money that Peter Thiel is funding this guy. |
Completely. I’m a liberal, or generally very socially liberal, but our city council has gone off the deep end on crime. We can’t arrest anyone anymore. |
This is so stupid. Come on. There were 1366 people in DC Department of Corrections custody in March. It’s almost like arresting people isn’t the key to making crime go down. https://doc.dc.gov/sites/default/files/dc/sites/doc/publication/attachments/DOC%20Population%20Statistics%20-%20Average%20Daily%20Population%20for%20January%202021%20through%20March%202022.pdf |
If you knew anything about crime in DC, you'd know that the Department of Justice prosecutes criminals 18 and older. Our city council and mayor can't do anything about that. DC does prosecute youth offenders, but most crime in DC is committed by adults and out of the hands of the city. |
Agree with all of the above. Am tired of DC being used as a testing ground (a la SF) for every hare-brained progressive idea. I live in Ward 1. There are people shooting up and defecating in the alley adjacent to my street and Brianne does not care. There are regular shootouts around the Columbia Heights metro. |
