I don't think my Clomid is working

I have not been ovulating ever since a m/c in January, so my doctor finally put me on clomid. I took it this cycle on days 3-7. Am now on cycle day 17 and no ovulation yet. My dr also gave me a prometrium prescription and recommended starting it on day 17. (the idea was that the combination of the 2 drugs would help regulate my cycle) But I'm thinking about waiting a few more days to see if I ovulate. Does anyone have experience with clomid? And if so, on which day did you ovulate? I'm not sure if I should keep waiting, or start taking the prometrium. I had such high hopes that the clomid would work...but I'm beginning to lose hope.

I've only used clomid with a trigger shot so that wouldn't help you. How are you determining whether you ovulated - OPKs or temperature charting?

Are you being monitored? Based on personal experience, I would never take clomid without monitoring - I produce a LOT of follicles even on the lowest dose, and the risk of multiples is too great. I don't know why your dr would just pick a day to start the prometrium - it should be started after ovulation is confirmed.

If it's your OB who is giving you clomid, I would go see an RE who will monitor you and tell you if you are responding to the dosage you're on and how many follicles you have. If you're not ovulating at all on clomid, t's possible that you're not responding to the dose you're on and it needs to be increased.

Agree with the PP....Go directly to a RE, if you health insurance plans allows for this. I have an acquaintance that did unmonitored clomid cycles and now has triplets....works for her family but would have thrown a real wrench in our family plans.

I had difficulty with getting clomid to work as well with my ob-gyn....... it worked the first cycle but not the second.....and I didn't like that the ob-gyn seemed confused with my inconsistent results. I switched to Shady Grove Fertility...... they bumped up my clomid dosage, added a trigger shot and an IUI, and boom, I'm pregnant on my third clomid cycle and six months along

What dosage are you using? Clomid did not work for me the first try at 50mg, so the doc upped it to 100mg.

I had a very late ovulation the one time I used clomid for the clomid challenge test. I used it 3 years ago, so memory is a bit foggy, but I think I was over a week late in ovulating. I was having a gyno surgical procedure done and was concerned that my cycle was off that month. I was told it was normal to have delayed o with clomid, which was why things were off. I also never feel ovulation, but was doubled over during ovulation on clomid.

I took clomid several months before i realized that i had the timing of the days to take it wrong. Once i did that correctly i was pregnant in 2 months. FYI - after the first baby i never needed it again. The second was a surprise (thought i would lots of trouble getting pregnant again especially since i'm advanced maternal ageand i was nursing) and the third i got pregnant first month we tried. good luck!

OP here, thanks for all the input! I'm feeling a little cramping/tightness today, so I'm hoping it might be ovulation approaching. I took 50mg this month. If it doesn't work I guess I will make a dr appointment and discuss up-ing the dosage. Thanks again!
