Infertility Support and Discussion

Hi to everyone on this board --
This is just to let you know that this Saturday, RESOLVE is sponsoring a morning educational program in DC for anyone interested in learning more about family building options through surrogacy. This program is intended as an introduction to the process. The details can be found at: http://familybuilding.resolve.org/site/Calendar/886783706?view=Detail&id=36141 Best wishes to everyone on this board! |
| That's odd. Surrogacy is considered a criminal act in DC, though it is legal in Maryland and Virginia. |
| People tend use surrogates who live in states where there are strong laws and protections for intendend parents. I assume this kind of information will be covered at the event. |

One of the speakers will be an attorney who specializes in this issue. The program is located in DC; the educational information provided will take into consideration relevant laws and regulations.
I hope anyone interested in learning more about surrogacy will attend. It's an easy way to dip your toe into the water. Other speakers include a person who has been a surrogate herself, a person from a surrogacy agency and an RE with surrogacy experience. |

There are more surrogacy arrangements in this area than you might think. Maryland's laws are quite favorable and Virginia's aren't too bad (unless you're a same-sex couple).
As with any contract, you'll want to make sure to enlist the assistance of a qualified and experienced attorney. So says the former surrogate who had a great experience carrying and delivering twins right here in Virginia. |
