Help a mom out! I need 24 vanilla cupcakes for a birthday party next week. I looked at Wegmans but they only seem to have “assorted” cupcakes in a mix of vanilla and chocolate. What grocery store can I go to for this, preferably just walking in and getting them from the bakery instead of through catering?

Where are you located? The Shoppers Food Warehouse down by me in Alexandria (on Rt 1) always seems to have a lot of ready-made cupcakes and other baked goods available, although I can't recall if they have boxes of all vanilla.
You might be able to ask staff at a grocery store (especially one like Wegmans) to just make you a box on-the-spot from cupcakes they may have in the back, actually. Or maybe just resign yourself to getting a few mixed boxes to ensure you get the number of vanilla ones you need. Cupcakes freeze well for later eating if needed.

I am in Columbia but I will check the nearest Shoppers. Thank you!
Costco, Giant, Safeway all sell cupcakes…
Any grocery store with a bakery will probably be able to do this. Just call and ask someone in the bakery department.
Why not just order what you want from Wegmans? You have plenty of time. This is one of those things I wouldn’t leave to chance if all cupcakes must be vanilla. The ONE day you need all vanilla, no one will have them. |
Safeway- call them. I agree with pp not to rely on chance. You will stress yourself out for something that was avoidable.
Agree. It’s sort of a PITA because you have to order at the bakery, then pay at the register, and then give the slip back to the bakery. But it works! |
Whole Foods normally has this, but as others said I'd call the bakery and order them.
SafewY and Harris teeter do this
Just order them. It is so easy.
I’d try calling the Wegman’s bakery directly or just stop in. I’m sure they’d make an all-vanilla batch for you.
