Please help with my small kitchen appliances decisions

Anonymous
We currently have a slow cooker and a rice cooker that we use a lot and keep in cabinets unless in use. We have a narrow toaster and no real room for a bigger on the counter. I would like to get an instapot-type appliance and an air fryer. I think we would use both a lot esp. the air fryer), but have no room. We enjoy cooking and are getting the point where we value good/best quality appliances over budget (within reason).

What should I buy (multi-purpose) and what should I get rid of (donate) to maximize space and good food/ease of use? Thanks!

Isn’t there an instant pot+ air fryer combo available now? I’d get that and lose the slow cooker. You can theoretically cook rice as well in the instant pot but I prefer my rice cooker for that.

The Instant Pot can replace both the slow cooker and the rice cooker. It has functions for both. It's not perfect at either, but it's good enough if you don't have space for all three (I don't either - I got rid of both the SC and RC when I got my IP).

I think the insta pot does a bad job at slow cooking though I also just don't love the insta pot. The airfryer is life changing though

Get a microwave w air-fryer feature.
Keep the slow cooker over the insta.

You already have a rice cooker and crock pot. That’s enough.

Breville oven that toasts, air frys, bakes, and more.

To start you need to think about when and how often you use the slow cooker and rice cooker. I like having a slow cooker, but I consider those “no cooking skill” meals and you say you enjoy cooking so perhaps that is an appliance you can get rid of (stews, etc can be made on the stovetop). Personally I have no problem making my rice in a pot on the stovetop either. You could replace both with an instapot and air fryer.

I don’t get what people love about instapot, though. Again, it seems a “no cooking skill” type device to me so if you like to cook, what’s the point. I do think that an air fryer would be great but my hold up there is that I have heard and read they make a small quantity, and I have a family of four including two teens to feed.

I have this and I’m very happy with it.
