HS teachers, please stop doing this....

Putting a "0" into the gradebook instead of "Not Graded" for an assignment that isn't due yet. Two of my kid's teachers have filled in all the rest of the year's assignments with 0s, even though they aren't due. As a result, one grade plummeted from a B to a D. I understand what it going on and that my kid's grades are actually fine, but there are other kids out there with less understanding parents who may really get on their case if they see that inaccurate grade and/or not believe when a kid explains what is going on. Please keep those kids with volatile parents in mind.

I find it so frustrating that after all the virtual stuff some teachers still can’t use the grade book and tools correctly and consistently. How dumb are some of these people?

It’s intentional, you’re the dumb one for not knowing that

That may be, but it's the kid who bears the brunt of it. You'd think teachers would like to prevent something like that. And they can.

Teachers intentionally want to make the grades appear lower than they are? I might be dumb, then. Why would a teacher do that?

Encourage your child to advocate for themselves if this is bothering them. They can easily write and email to teachers asking them why and indicating that it is discouraging. Chance are it was an error and teacher will change it.

I'm not talking about my kid. I'm talking about kid who have parents who won't be inclined to email teachers and ask. Parents who are just going to react badly. And you know they exist. I just hope that's not the case for any kids in my child's two classes. They might have a miserable weekend just because the teacher pre-filled assignments with 0s.

This is such a waste of a post

That did indeed happen with my husband, who blew a gasket before my son could explain that it was because a teacher had done something like this.

Not cool, teachers.

Imagine if your husband wan't in a frame of mind to listen to your son's explanation? I'm sure that happens (it would have happened to me as a teen) and I feel for those poor kids. Please, teachers, don't put a kid in that situation.

This is bizarre. We literally can’t put 0s in our gradebook, they automatically change to 50%

Don’t blame the teacher because PP poster had rage issues.
