Best photo scanner?

Anonymous
I need to scan a bunch of old family photographs and want the highest quality digital resolution. Ideally, it will have the capability to scan slides as well.

Can anyone recommend a scanner with which you have been very happy?

Epson V850 will do what you want. It is good for positive prints and various film sizes.

The absolute highest quality for film scans would be to take them to a photo lab for drum scanning, but that is unnecessary for all but the best photographs.

And, obviously, keep the prints and film after you scan everything. Digital photos are great for sharing and access, but nothing beats film or paper prints for long-term preservation.

Thanks very much!
