About to hire our first nanny and she will be shopping, runny errands, etc while kids are in school.
Do we give her a credit card to bu groceries or pay for something with the kids? Or cash? Or reimburse after nanny pays? Sorry if this seems obvious - I want to have it set up for the her first day. |
I add a credit card with their name to my account. Talk through any expectations at the outset (ie let me know if there is a big purchase, use for any emergencies but let’s talk after, it’s for x and y type of expenses, etc). I’m able to add a user to my cc online and the card shows up quickly. |
Credit card. |
I would ask the Nanny if she has a preference. With my Nanny family I used to just pay for stuff myself on my credit card and keep the receipts and they would reimburse me once a month. It helped get my credit score a bit higher to be using a higher amount on my credit card then paying it off. |
Are you sure adding their name to your credit card won't mess with her score? |
We reimburse our nanny for incidentals. We use the same bank, so we can transfer funds basically instantly. |
I would never ask an employee to pay for anything for my family. I would give her a $500 credit card. I had a LPN for my mother and I have her a $500 credit card to pay for any expenses. My mother had altzheimers but in the early stages she enjoyed going out to lunch and this paid for lunch for both of them. She always gave me teceipts and a few times she bought things for herself but she always told me and paid me back. |
My nanny prefers that we reimburse her charges so she gets the reward points. We reimburse her in cash weekly. |
