I've got a tween who loves Star Wars, RPGs, fantasy novels, the works, and am trying to figure out if we should try Awesome Con.
Can any veterans fill me in on what happens there? Is the focus on panel discussions, celebrity meet-and-greets, and cosplayer-watching? Any tabletop game or video game areas, or is it mostly comics and movies? What did your kids enjoy there? |

All of the above.
We are not even really geeky, but my kids and I still had a great time. |
| When we went before Covid there were tabletop games and video games, including some really incredible vintage arcade games. My daughter got to “test” some new games that were in the development stages. |
| I'm thinking of taking my 7 year old. I think he'd get a kick out of it and he loves superheroes and star wars. the science part looks kind of cool too. |

It is awesome - as the name implies.
Go forth and be awesome! |
| My kids love it (ages 9 and 11) and we go every year. It's everything you mention but a lot of it is booths selling stuff so bring some spending money. I am not into any of that stuff but I still have fun. |

These conventions tend to have limited lifespans so please go this year if you are at all interested.
I would wager your kids will love it. |
| OP here, thanks everyone! It sounds, well, awesome. We'll give it a try! |
| Bonus:Melissa Joan Hart will be there. I think of Melissa and Joey/Clarissa explains it all/Sabrina the Teenage Witch. |
