find me a king bedroom suite

We moved into a new house and the owners suite is gigantic and humorously, all we have in it is a queen bed on a frame.

Show me your favorite sets! My husband wants "upscale" and modern.

1. I want a high bed. I'm tall and getting out of a platform bed is annoying to me.
2. I think I want a coordinating set? Is that strange? Is mismatched better?

Around $5000 for:
bed (not mattress)
2 dressers (tall and short)
2 nightstands

First of all, enjoy your giant bedroom suite. But I don't think you will be able to get all those pieces for 5000, if you want good quality. You should look at consignment shops and CraigsList. Kaiyo and Chairish have good online consignment. We like going to Cornerstone in Timonium (but their stuff isn't so modern). There are a lot of people out there looking to get rid of "big" furniture. And you don't have to deal with supply chain issues...

Do the dressers have to be in the bedroom? Often in houses with mbr that large, there are equally large walk in closet(s) and dressers can go in there. That makes it easier to do the other stuff, where I personally would contrast like the following:
Wood tone bed + colored (white, grass cloth, whatever) nightstands;
Upholstered bed + wood tone nightstands
Metal or painted wood bed + wood nightstands

And then a couch or daybed to fill other space.

Agree with pp that it is better to mix and match. In our room we have a leather bed, wood dresser, and metal nightstands, all mid century or modern.

Another vote for mix and match OP and expect to spend a little more than $5K to furnish the suite.

Right before EVERYTHING CHANGED, we ordered a "best" quality set at homemakers furniture (in nebraska) during one of their periodic sales. mid-century style solid Alder + Walnut bed, nightstands, and dressers. Fits in your budget. (Made in vietnam)

The set is designed / imported by Whittier furniture.

Now, I wouldn't exactly call it "best" but it's certainly a nice set and we're happy with it 2.5 years later.

5k probably isn’t happening. Can you share some pieces your husband would consider modern?
