I have a few days off coming up just for some "me" time. I want to come up with something to make for dinner for DH and I, not that it takes all day, but perhaps something a bit more involved than I might do on a weeknight. Also interested in making a dessert, but I think I've already decided on a lemon ricotta cake or basque cake as I've had them on my mind
Suggestions for dinner? |

Braised short ribs. Takes so long, tastes so good!
Pot au feu Coq au vin Pho |
| If it was June, I would spend all day canning strawberry jam, but May might be too early. |
| One day for chicken stock, the next for mole. Make tortillas. |
| Bone broth, then short rib stew. |
Recipes? |
| Do you have a smoker, or a bbq that you can use as a smoker? I'd go with brisket, ribs, pulled pork, something like that. |
Same. And strawberry shortcake for dessert that night. |
Oooh, strawberry shortcake |

I would take it as a chance to restock my freezer lol:
1. Pasta sauce (with my family recipe it's a 6 hour ordeal, but freezes beautifully) 2. Cinnamon rolls (homemade dough has a cold proof for 8-10 hours overnight, also freeze beautifully) 3. Boeuf Bourguignon for dinner with some fresh made french bread from my sourdough starter. Now you have my wanting to schedule a few days off in May myself! |
If we’re talking strawberry desserts and you have time on your hands, make this http://the-cooking-of-joy.blogspot.com/2017/04/rhubarb-strawberry-coconut-cream-tart.html Nothing against shortcake, but this much more “I have extra time to make something impressive.” I’ve done it, and it looks gorgeous even if you just do a regular lattice with the rhubarb and not the herringbone. |
