In the past year, at least 3 of my neighbors have traded in their old cars (generally small SUVs) and gotten enormous sized SUVs. WHY?! Do you not realize that street parking is already tough? You don't need an enormous SUV. You really don't. If you need a tank to drive, then you need to learn how to drive better, and safer.
|
| Probably for the 3rd row seats. They are apparently parking them somewhere that is working for them. |
| Uhm, why don't you ask your 3 neighbors why they made their purchases instead of asking an anonymous internet board? |
| I'll venture a guess. Perhaps it is because they spend a lot of time in their cars and they want to feel comfortable in their commute. |
| Seems like you should be talking to your neighbors if you really wanted an answer to this question. Although I doubt you do. You really just want to feel good about yourself and your "more correct" life choices. |
| Because they can and they wanted to. Not that they owe you any explanation. |
| Because I know how to park no matter how big my car is? What strange logic. |
Just because OP can’t figure out parallel parking doesn’t mean we all can’t! |
|
Housing is getting more expensive+families have to downsize to a smaller house.
Not that hard to figure out if you don’t see what’s going on right now. |
Surely you can't be this stupid. It's not about knowing how to parallel park - it's about less space overall. If everyone got ginormous cars, you can fit fewer cars in the same amount of street space. |
| Because they are now working primarily from home so don’t have to worry about fighting for parking on a daily basis or commuting costs? |
| I’m with OP on this one. |
Do you have no clue how big cars were in the 60s/70s/early 80s? And people parked on the streets and managed to survive. |
| Because this is America. Everything is bigger. Houses, cars, appliances, it’s a sign of wealth. I grew up in Europe and we got kids and stuff in small cars and live in smaller houses too….. but here we are. Americans like to show off. |
If you can’t find parking, you should move to a place with off street parking. Or pass a law regulating the size of cars. |
