Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)
| If you've already attended orientation at your AAP Center, I'm wondering what your thoughts were and how it's affecting your decision process. I did not find ours very impressive. |
| Ours is not until Wednesday night. |
| We were impressed by some of the teachers at ours, but not impressed at all by the principal, who seemed bombastic and uninformed. The curriculum seemed good and our child would definitely benefit from the challenge. We don't have a local level IV option. Our child is woefully unchallenged at our base school, so we will give it a try. If it doesn't work well for her, we'll move to a cluster with a GT center with a better reputation. |
| We went to ours last night at Haycock, and we were very impressed. It was organized and informative, but most of all, it sounds like a great curriculum. We're very excited to make the move. |
What is your base school (if you don't mind)? |
You will love Haycock. It is an amazing program and I love how they pre-test and ability group the kids to make sure that everyone is working at the level of their current knowledge and ability. I couldn't have asked for more. |
| We went to the Canterbury Woods orientation last night and will go to our base school's Local Level IV presentation today. We were quite impressed with the Canterbury Woods program. |
