Food, Cooking, and Restaurants
| I've not been to this restaurant and wonder if it's toddler friendly for lunch? I know it's quite nice, but lunch time may be welcoming for a young child. Do they have outside seating? I can't get a good sense from their site. |
| Why would you want to go there with a toddler? Why not go to Sweetwater Tavern nearby, which is truly child-friendly? I'm sure 2941 would be accommodating, but diners go there for a nice quiet lunch, often associated with business, and do you really want to potentially disturb them? |
| OP here. We'd be going on a Saturday and aren't trying to "disturb" anyone. I want to celebrate a special occasion with my husband and son, and Sweetwater Tavern and the likes just don't fit the bill for this. |

It is definitely not toddler-friendly. It's an expensive restaurant that people go to for an awesome meal in a beautiful setting. At lunch time, it's filled with business-types there for lunch meetings. You would definitely the stink-eye. I doubt they have high chairs.
I don't know if they have outdoor seating. There are a few patios, but I haven't been there in the warmer months. My husband and I have gone to take advantage of the $29.41 lunch deal. Enjoy your meal, but don't take your toddler. I wouldn't even take my 5-year-old and he's very well-behaved in restaurants. |
| 11:13 here - I'm pretty sure they're only open for lunch Monday through Friday. |
| I've never taken a child there but I don't think it would hurt to give them a call and ask. There's a huge difference between a Saturday lunch and a weekday lunch. |
| I agree with PP. Call and ask if they have high chairs and that will tell you if they are child friendly. You have the right to go to any restaurant you want with your child, as you as you are not disturbing others. |
OP - I don't think 2941 is appropriate for a toddler, but I guess lunch on Saturday would probably be okay. Try to think about it this way - you view it as a "special occasion" type of restaurant and others do the same. Most of us (and I'm a mom of 3) think it pretty annoying to bring toddlers to really nice restaurants b/c even decently behaved ones tend to get antsy and sometimes yell, etc. If your toddler is like that at all, I think you need to leave your son at home to celebrate or go to a more family friendly place. |
| Definitely not a place for a toddler. It would ruin it for you if your child acted up and disturbed others. It's just too nice and very expensive for little kids to go to. |

I'm sure all those trying to have a nice quiet lunch will cringe when they see your child come in.
Why don't you go to Chef Geoff's in Tysons. It is a nice place but still family friendly. They have a children's menu and outdoor seating too. I realize its not quite as nice as 2941. |
| I take my toddler to a lot of non toddler friendly places but would not take them to 2941. For some reason the modern aspect to makes me shy away from it. I feel more comfortable at hotel restaurants (Ritz, 4 Seasons) bc they are used to seeing families - and I can always walk around the lobby if things get out of hand. 2941 is in a business building so it is a lot of business people which makes me nervous. |
| It's also such a big open space I think any noise from you kid would be totally magnified. We take our DDs out a lot, but that is not a place I would choose either. PP had a good point about going to hotel restaurants -- they're definitely more used to it. Lots of kids at Ritz-Carlton Tysons and Pentagon City. You could get away with it to at West End Bistro at Ritz-Carlton, DC (22nd & M). |

I've been there, but not with my toddler. I liked the restaurant a lot, but probably wouldn't take my toddler there.
Have you considered Sea Pearl in Merrifield? I did take my toddler there (at the very beginning of dinner on a weekend) and they were very accomodating and sweet to her. Good food and a rather sophisticated decor (though without the spectacular view at 2941) and she loved picking food off of my plate. |
| Not a place to take a toddler. Not at all. |
| against what every other person posted here --- we took our toddler there on a few occasions. In fact, we had our toddler and our neice who was a toddler as well. They have high chairs.... although it's not overrun with families we never felt awkward eating there with kids. All depends on the toddler too i guess. We've always taken ours out to restaurants so they are very well behaved. If your child is generally good in restaurants go for it! |
