Less Applications at Catholic k-8s?

Anonymous
Curious if anyone has knows if there were less applications to parochial schools this year? My kid’s schools had an extensive waitlist the past two years, but I saw an advertisement for having kindergarten openings. I understand each school may be different, but is there a general consensus of interest for the coming year?

Catholic schools in Alexandria had fewer applications for Kindergarten. The ones I know of had a pre-COVID typical application cycle.

All the Alexandria Catholic K-8 schools? Don’t most always have a wait list?!

I think there are less applications compared to last year, but more overall interest than, say, 2018.

Yes. Our school went from 2 second grade classes this year to 1 3rd grade for next year. Many are heading back to public from parents I’ve talked to.

St. Mary’s and St. Louis do, yes.

I think our school in the Arlington Diocese had fewer applications this year, but didn’t lose many current students to public.

I also think this past year‘s kindergarten entry was much larger due to families delaying enrollment as a result of the pandemic and virtual learning in public schools. I expect some of that to adjust back to more normal levels.
