Looking for volunteer opportunities in NoVA in the "green", sustainability area for myself and my teen DD. We both enjoy native plants and restoration (and I've identified a few orgs but they either don't have anything on the calendar or they do a lot during the week when she is in school).
Any suggestions? We'd like to do it as a family (and of course she would like to get service hours for the work). Thanks. |
Trail maintenance through parks and rec or Potomac Appalachian Trail Club. |
Invasive plant management and stream cleanups. |
The Volunteer Fairfax website has a directory of volunteer opportunities for families, including a number of environmental options:

There’s also one for Arlington county. |
Accotink trail and steam cleanup is on the 3rd Saturday at 8am each month...do you get out and walk trails? According, Lake Royal, Pohick (off the top of my head, Im sure there are more), etc constantly have signs advertising cleanup, invasive plants removal, and such especially during this time of year |
