| A few years ago when my DD was an eighth grader (they called this a semi formal though) the girls mostly wore fancy sundresses. A few were things that were a little bit shimmery but they were all shortbor knee-length and for the most part fairly modest in style. |

If it is MCPS the kids with older siblings who have been there/done that, girls wear sundresses and boys short sleeve shirt, sports coat, and khaki shorts. It's held in the school gym, and HOT! There will be a few boys in full suits and girls in long actual prom dresses, but they will be hot and miserable. Yes, really.

Depends on who her date will be. Some girls same-sex couples opt for a dress / pants suit. |
