Hello,
I'm buying a house that has a pool for the first time and I found out that the heater had been broken during home inspection. The seller wants to give us some credit for a heater replacement. However, their estimate is lower than the estimate that I got from a pool service company over the phone (normally, a technician needs to be onsite to see a heater and a pool). If you have a pool with a heater, could you share how much it cost to replace the heater? Also, does anyone have any advice on how to get a good estimate from the seller? I tried to talk to the seller's agent, but she didn't give me any suggestion or any useful information. Thanks in advance. |
It depends on what kind of heater it is - propane, natural gas, but the heaters are anywhere from $1000 to $2000, plus labor.
Make sure you have an additional inspection of the pool (the pump motor & liner). Is the pool open already? It would honestly be better if you had your pool service company go over to the house and give you a true estimate. This way you won't get the cheapest heater or a bad service company if the seller would fix it. |
We were quoted 560 for the installation (labor +parts) of a gas heater. This does not include the price of the actual heater though, which I do not know because we never pursued it. You could look online for that info. |
Heating a pool is expensive! you may want to look into solar! |
We have a pool with the heater and solar cover. Last year we only used the heater in Sep and early Oct right before we closed it. We even had to take the cover off during the peak summer days so it would cool down.
Heating a pool is expensive, but you still want the pool & the heater in working condition. We bought our house before the pool season and when we opened the pool we discovered the pump wasn't woring, the liner has holes in it, etc. Yes, had a warranty on it, but most of the stuff wasn't covered. |
