Virtual mud

The story in today's Post Metro section on Vince Gray (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/05/05/AR2010050505066.html?sub=AR) seems to be a bit of subtle mud-slinging. The story implies that Gray has ethics problems without naming them. Rather than framing the article as a report on the fact that Fenty supporters have begun looking for mud to throw at Gray to deflect attention from the Fenty administration's ethical lapses, the reporter seems to me to spread, without evidence, the impression that Gray is vulnerable to ethical charges.

What do the rest of you think?

It seems to me that objective and factual reporting hasn't been in practice for a long time. Think back to the Atlanta Olympics and even before.
