Hello everyone, i am looking to donate stuff like lightly used crib, stroller, car seat, bouncer, swing in addition to clothes to a place in dc that directly benefits families. I know of more general options but am wondering if there is a specific place for baby item donations that you know of.
Thanks! |

controversial given the political leanings of this board, but I donated baby stuff to A Woman's Choice in Falls Church which is a crisis pregnancy center. I'm pro-choice and generally not in favor of such centers but they do give directly to local families and it was the ONLY charity I could find that was 1) responsive within 24 hours when I wanted to offload things quickly and 2) actually willing to take gently used baby items, including unexpired car seats. I think they took everything but my breast pump.
Greater DC Diaper Bank is wonderful but won't take used stuff, generally. I've donated unopened diaper boxes there. You might also try the Ukrainian Embassy - I'm sure there are incoming refugees who would need supplies |
When in doubt, A Woder Circle is always a great choice! They do take baby items, but be sure to check the “what we accept” list on their website for specifics. There are also still several efforts to settle refugees in the area — the International Rescue Committee in Silver Spring might be able to tell you which charity groups are currently operating and might need baby gear. |

Maple Ridge, Parkview and Kings Square apartment complexes in MD are packed full with refugee families from
Afghanistan and other countries— literally open your car trunk and a needy family will come and take it all. In Alexandria, same is true for Harwich Court. Can give you more addresses depending on where you live. All the resettlement agencies are locating refugee families in these complexes, paying 1 mo rent in best case scenario, and then they are on their own whether or not they speak English or have a job. The need is immense. The eviction crisis for all these families is just about to hit now. |
There will be a mom/baby distribution of mom/baby hygiene items this weekend at the following locations in MD 4/23 1pm Kings Square Apartments 4/23 3pm Maple Ridge Apartments 4/24 1pm Parkview Apartments 4/24 3pm Calvert Hall Apartments Organized by AYRR/IROC/UMR I plan to go there and bring baby clothes and gear, and “piggyback”on these events to give away what l have received as donations. |
| OP here. Thanks so much - i will go to one of these over the weekend. Glad i asked, had no idea. |

I'm bumping this because I'm having trouble finding an organization in NOVA (other than A Wider Circle) that will accept a City Select Double stroller. Any updated suggestions?

I second this: been there, done that. Literally drive there, open the trunk and wait. |
| And double strollers are *hot items* in these communities because they have many children. So just take advice of PP quoted above. |

| Capitol Hill Pregnancy Center will take all of it and give directly to families in need. |
