High academic SLAC with school spirit?

Anonymous
From an academic perspective, I think my child would get the most out of a SLAC. But she likes the idea of a school with a lot of spirit, where students attend varsity athletic events, etc. She’s a strong student, so highly selective schools are an option. Recommendations appreciated!

Depends on the school and events. E.g., I went to Bowdoin. EVERYONE went to the hockey games. Far fewer went to football games.

I went to a NESCAC SLAC as have several of my family members, including alums and current students. There are always lots of spectators at NESCAC sports events because so many of the students are either athletes themselves or have friends who are athletes. NESCAC alums also tend be really loyal to their schools. They participate in alum activities, go to reunions, welcome networking inquiries from current students and alums, and give generously.
