Has anyone enrolled their child in camps by educational theater company? How was their experience? Thanks in advance!
Imagination Stage has been great! Very professional, lots of fun, excellent quality production. Theatre Lab was also terrific and lots cheaper

Imagination stage in summer of 2020 made it very difficult to get your money back on their cancelled summer programs. I was even willing to go to their online offering for a week or two but I couldn’t have several weeks of their programs.
Synetic Theater was super easy to work with in 2020. |
Traveling Players is excellent. High quality teachers and GREAT shows. I can't recommend them enough!
Second the recommendation for Traveling Players. My daughter is in college and has used many skills learned at Traveling Players over the years. It’s a great program.

Imagination Stage remedied its 2020 mistakes, let anyone who had $ on account in 2020 use it on summer camps in 2021 and did a great job in 2021!
Although I agree that they could have handled 2020 better, I think they have done enough penance for their pandemic freak-out. |
We're doing Creative Cauldron this summer.
+1 for TP! DD just did their winter show and is constantly hanging out with her castmates even though the show closed last month. Great community and great expereince

Assuming you are looking in Virginia, but ETC is great. As is Encore, which is in Arlington. Can't go wrong with either.
Arena Stage
My daughter did an ETC camp a few years ago and had a great experience!
We've done both Traveling Players and Camp Shakespeare. Teachers were good at both but Traveling Players was the better experience for us – the show was better (better overall production value) and I like how communicative they are with parents.
I've sent my son to a Readers Theatre camp at Springwell School. They also have a Spanish and arts theatre camp with a Spanish language kids theatre company. Caring and creative staff. We'll be going again.
