It's perfectly fine. We did one year hear before lucking into a spot at our IB for PK4. We were totally happy with it, except the commute was annoying for us. We never had any intention to stay past PK (would be going to our IB for K no matter what) and I think that's true of a lot of families at the school Lots of people IB for Maury, L-T, and other CH schools but who didn't get PK spots there, and both Apple Tree campuses on the Hill are popular options for that situation. As a result, the community is a lot less involved than we see at our DCPS, where people are more committed to staying through until 5th. I would assume that's even more true during Covid. But in a way that's a feature -- I definitely feel more pressure to be involved at our DCPS and that comes with added stress and commitments. At Apple Tree, we brought snack occasionally and did a few other things for our kid's class, but that's it.
I can't speak to what it's like on a longer term basis though, since we were only there 1 year.
