APS - what is up with the calendar in September??

If school districts enacted year round school with longer fall, winter, spring and summer break blocks, and perhaps even teacher in service/grade prep etc. within those blocks, it would be so much easier for everyone.

*shorter summer break though. I would agree this is a nice trade off though.

Don’t forget the snow days we’ll have when the forecast is calling for 1-2 inches of snow!

It’s a long haul for students and teachers to basically have no break between January and Spring Break which is in April this year. My high schooler gets burned out.

I'm from New England. Our spring break was always 2 weeks at the end of March. And we'd get 2 weeks for Christmas break.

PP again. We also started after Labor Day and ended at the end of May. I don't understand why the school year is so much longer here.

Is the school day shorter here so they need more days to cover the hours?

Where are you from in New England? I went to a private school and we had a similar calendar, but all the public schools around me started after Labor Day and got out near the end of June. They still do.
