Other positions that are “special” are based on the way a principal spends money (and sometimes wastes money on coaches.)

I also thought that was funny because Mondays are my busiest day. I often have two to three meetings and use a large chunk of that time for grading and to plan for the week.

NP. Wasn’t the overtime for grading and planning done in their own time after teaching hours supposed to justify the months of vacation that teachers get each year that other professions don’t get? I thought it was supposed to even out.

During typical school years, I work 75-80 hours/week.
During Covid, I've worked 70-75 hours/week.

I'd say that still balances out to far more hours/year than most professions work.

What grade/subject do you teach and please break down those 70-75 hours in detail so that parents who think you're working less than 49 hours can understand. Break it down like 5 hours grading essays; 5 hours making new slides; 3 hours replying to parent or student emails.

It isn't an exaggeration or lie.

Secondary teachers who are also instructional leaders have at least 5 hours of meetings per week in addition to "just" teaching. Add in all the other duties of teachers, especially grading when everything is essay or short response for over 150 students, and it takes a huge amount of time.

True! Our MS tortures our kids to "check in" for 15 minutes. Our HS offers a google form the week before. It's all BS just to cover up lack of teaching hours= so their checking in is "a full day." BS! Just like PE (please spare us!!! one has to hear a teacher drone on and on, the other just logs in and then they are dismissed- FFS, just waive the damn requirement.. all school are paid anyway but just spare the kids from more time in front of the screen for NOTHING!)
