Haycock Principal

Some anonymous poster who singles out identifiable people at a school for scorn based on what they supposedly “heard about” when they clearly have a giant chip on their shoulder ought to be able to handle getting called out. The post was anything but insightful.

While the parents never supported Jereme, the breaking point which led to his leaving was as a result of the remaining teachers coming to the parent community and asking for support and help. jereme did not listen to our teachers or seek their opinions or guidance. The parent community then decided to voice concerns on behalf of both groups (parents and teachers).

Since Augie has taken over as interim, our teacher turnover is incredibly low. He, along with our strong asst principals, has brought much needed stability. Scott Bloom was in the school as principal for all of two months and never really made a mark. I can’t imagine he’s coming back. Of course, we would love a new long term principal but given the priorities right now in a pandemic, I just have to hope Augie can see us through one more year.

I write this because so many people on these threads who do not have children at Haycock consistently make the argument that the parents are crazy and pushed the principal out as if it was done in a vacuum. What we did was support our teachers.

This is the best post on this entire thread.

The post above does not focus on the big picture just leads to the ending scenario. This thread and the others say the same things about the parents, teachers leaving, administration issues. All the same stuff. Different posts different points in time etc. Lots of drama.

It seemed specific and informative, compared to the incoherent innuendo from the drama queen.

Agreed, if you search Haycock (and some of the other McLean schools, frankly), going back YEARS (even before Donnelly), you get the same type of posts about the parent population. It's an SES thing and everybody knows it.

Yup. This exactly. Thank you.

Honestly, I’m not sure it’s just an SES thing. My college kid went to Haycock years ago and the parents us the same reputation and there were the same issues. Haycock has it’s own special kind of crazy for some reason. I think it’s UMC striving parents combined with an AAP center (I assume it’s still there). I was thrilled when my kid moved on.

Before the grammar police jump in, I’m the PP and I realize there are typos. It’s late and I’m on an iPhone with autocorrect messing up my post and I can’t edit.

Thanks for the clarification.

Thanks for the smoke and mirrors.

We've been quite happy with the entire pyramid through high school. I doubt that Haycock is much different from any other AAP center where some of the parents are hoping to get their kids into TJHSST. Our oldest was well prepared for college coming out of McLean High.

I didn't say most Haycock parents want their kids to go to TJ. As far as I'm aware, they don't. But I wouldn't put down the ones who do just for sport, like some of you seem to enjoy.

“Special kind of crazy” is an accurate description of the parents and administration.
Good luck with that.
